On October 5th, approximately 12 transitioning Veterans spent the morning at Amazon’s Fulfillment Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana as part of an “Employer Showcase” organized by Where Opportunity Knox, a regional initiative to connect transitioning Veterans and/or military spouses to jobs and the Greater Louisville Region.
Amazon’s Employer Showcase provided Where Opportunity Knox clients the exclusive opportunity to explore available job opportunities in a hands-on way, learn more about the industry, engage with those who are doing the jobs today and hear from company leadership about career opportunities. The Veterans toured the Jeffersonville facility, talked to two Veterans currently working for Amazon and participated in a question/answer session before and after the tour.
According to Whitney Allen, Where Opportunity Knox Senior Regional Veteran Connector, “At each Employer Showcase, Where Opportunity Knox’s Veteran clients have the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an employee and experience a day in the life of the civilian workforce. And Participating Employers have the opportunity to showcase their companies to some outstanding Veteran talent. It’s a win-win!”
Employer Showcases have proven to be an impactful way for transitioning military personnel to get a firsthand understanding of what it’s like to work at some of our region’s great companies.
