The Pre-Access Coordinator uses electronic methods and/or telephone to verify insurance coverage, necessary approvals for pre-certification and/or referrals for all patients assigned to ensure that all claims are paid without penalties or denials. Strives to verify scheduled patients and determine amounts for collection prior to date of service. For unscheduled patients, verifies insurance coverage as soon as possible after admission. Work closely with Patient Access Services, Care Coordination, and Patient Financial Services to resolve any discrepancies or concerns with the account. Works closely with Financial Counseling to contact self-pay patients and prepare financial arrangements prior to admission. The goal for this area is to thoroughly verify benefits and that all pre-certificate are obtained and valid. Provide support to obtain payments prior to or at the point of service and to ensure payment for hospital services.
