Where Opportunity Knox, a regional initiative to connect transitioning Veterans and/or military spouses to jobs and the Greater Louisville Region, continues to connect Veteran talent to our employers in our region.
Since July 2016, Where Opportunity Knox has engaged 75 transitioning individuals in various regional networking, employer engagement and work place activities including “Employer Showcases.” Of those 75 individuals, 44 people – or 59% – of them have accepted a new position in the region to date!
Employer Showcases have proven to be an impactful way for transitioning military personnel to get a firsthand understanding of what it’s like to work at some of our region’s great companies. Employer Showcases provide Where Opportunity Knox clients the opportunity to explore available job opportunities in a hands-on way, engage with those who are doing the jobs today and hear from company leadership about career opportunities.
In June, Flex Films and Norton Healthcare hosted Employer Showcases:
- Flex Films, with operations in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high quality packaging films. Flex Films is part of the India-based UFLEX Group, the world’s only film manufacturer to have plants operating in the four major continents of North America, Europe, Asia and Africa that together account for over 90% of the global packaging requirements.
- Norton Healthcare has grown to be the area’s leading health care provider with some of the most advanced technologies and well-trained physicians, nurses and staff in the area. It includes five large hospitals, 13 Norton Immediate Care Centers and 190 physicians practice locations.
At each Employer Showcase, Where Opportunity Knox’s Veteran clients had the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an employee as they worked alongside current team members. And Flex Films and Norton Healthcare had the opportunity to showcase their companies to some outstanding Veteran talent. A win-win!
