Where Opportunity Knox, a regional initiative to connect transitioning Veterans and/or military spouses to jobs and the Greater Louisville Region, continues to connect Veteran talent to employers in our region.
Where Opportunity Knox has engaged 99 transitioning individuals in various regional networking, employer engagement and work place activities including “Employer Showcases.” Of those 99 individuals, 55 people – or 56% – of them have accepted a new position in the region to date!
Employer Showcases have proven to be an impactful way for transitioning military personnel to get a firsthand understanding of what it’s like to work at some of our region’s great companies. Employer Showcases provide Where Opportunity Knox clients the exclusive opportunity to explore available job opportunities in a hands-on way, learn more about the industry, engage with those who are doing the jobs today and hear from company leadership about career opportunities.
This month and next, Amazon, Family Scholar House, Flex Films, GE Appliances, Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company (LG&E and KU) and UPS are hosting Employer Showcases. At each Employer Showcase, Where Opportunity Knox’s Veteran clients have the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an employee and experience a day in the life of the civilian workforce. And Participating Employers have the opportunity to showcase their companies to some outstanding Veteran talent. A win-win!
If you would like to be part of Where Opportunity Knox, or if you are part of a company that wants to host an Employer Showcase for Veteran job seekers, please visit www.whereopportunityknox.com for more information.
